triple p qualification

Triple P stands for     Positive   Parenting Programme

It focuses on using positive re-enforcement and offers strategies on managing behaviour.

It gives a number of different practical strategies for parents to use and is usually run as a group programme, over 6 – 8 weeks, but can also be delivered 1:1 in the home. Sessions involve discussion, video clips and workbook exercises.

What is it?

It's an evidence-based parenting programme, backed up by more than 30 years of ongoing research. Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them confidently manage their children’s behaviour, prevent problems developing and build strong, healthy relationships. It is currently used in 25 countries and has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups and in all kinds of family structures.

The aims of Triple P

  • To put evidence based parenting into the hands of parents across the world
  • To normalise the idea of parenting programmes so parents feel comfortable asking for help
  • To deliver the correct amount of support a parent needs – enough but not too much
  • To give parents the confidence and skills to be self-sufficient and to manage problems independently.
